Top Five Reasons Why You Need Coaching More Than Ever Right Now
As we wrap up International Coaching Week 2020, I’m proud to be part of a worldwide community of nearly 35,000 professional coaches. The ways in which we are serving our clients is more important than ever these days.

Over the past week, I have shared the “Top Five Reasons Why You Need Coaching More Than Ever Right Now”. Here’s a summary along with access to some very helpful resources.

Reason #1: Coaching Is Scientifically Proven to Reduce Stress.

The prolonged personal, professional, and financial stress we’re experiencing as we’re coping with the COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented. When we’re stressed, it’s very difficult to show up as the best version of ourselves for our loved ones and colleagues. When stress is reduced through coaching, we have access to more resilience, compassion, and kindness, which are needed more than ever these days.

Reason #2: Coaching Helps Us Process What’s Going On.

During unpredictable times, coaching can help us make sense of the events that are going on around us, process our emotions, and move past worry and fear. We all need someone with an objective perspective supporting us to be able to do this effectively. Otherwise, we can get stuck in a cycle of fear and reactivity.

Reason #3: Coaching Helps Us Intelligently Navigate Change.

As humans, we are naturally resistant to change – especially if it’s not our idea, and it’s unexpected. We’ve had a lot of that lately! Coaching helps us become more adaptable to change and supports us in developing new habits that enable us to be more creative as we navigate the change process.

Reason #4: Coaching Increases Our Capacity to Lead Effectively.

During tumultuous times, we desperately need our leaders to be making sound decisions, focusing on community welfare, and charting a course for a prosperous future. We also need our leaders to be calm, emotionally collected, and compassionate. Coaching helps leaders increase their capacity to create positive and lasting ripple effects within organizations and communities.

Reason #5: Coaching Connects Us to Our Purpose.

During a crisis, it’s more important than ever to stay grounded in our purpose and core values. Working with a coach supports us in staying true to ourselves and leaning into our values as we make critical decisions and re-prioritize what’s most important.
